Get Your Music On iTunes In 3 Easy Steps

Getting your music heard by millions of fans is no longer as difficult as it used to be. Selling your music through major online retailers like iTunes and Amazon can be done with a few simple mouse clicks. We're talking international distribution in a to millions of potential buyers in a matter of days. Sound like something your band would be interested in?

1. Copyright Your Music

Before you can begin legally selling your music through online stores like iTunes or Amazon, you need to get your music copyrighted. Luckily, this isn't as tedious as it used to be. You used to have to mail the U.S. Copyright a physical copy of your CD and wait weeks to receive your official documents. Now, the entire process of copyrighting an album can be done online through the website of the U.S. Copyright Office. Registering for your copyright only takes about an hour and a debit card or PayPal account to complete.

2. Design Your Album Artwork

Don't be the band that has horrible album art. If you're going to invest your bands time and hard-earned money creating a musical masterpiece and getting all of your songs professionally recorded, you don't want the artwork that's on the cover of your album to represent your band and your musical talent in a way that doesn't show professionalism. Believe it or not, some people look at the cover art of an album and judge the entire album based on what you have plastered on the front of your CD case. If you're serious about selling your music, spend the extra money required to get your album looking professional and worthy of representing your awesome band.

3. Sign Up With a Distribution Service

Once you have your music copyrighted and your album and CD artwork completed, you're ready to take your music career to the big leagues. Head on over to an online distribution company like TuneCore or CD Baby and sign up for a band account. Once you've signed up and confirmed your email address, login to the website, create a new order and start uploading the tracks from your album on to their website. Upload the professional album artwork after you're done uploading your tracks and then you're good to go. Before you complete your order you'll be able to pick which online stores your album will be available through. After completing your order, you'll receive an order confirmation in your email and your musical masterpiece will be available for purchase through the stores you selected within a few days.
